Hi, this is Norm -
Please remember that although we all like to help each other and would probably water the beds near our own if we see they need it, there is a real possibility that none of your immediate neighbors may be there on a particular day and the little baby plants need daily or even twice daily water until they are established. I personally won't be able to do that for all of the garden.
Perhaps we as a group can set up a water program at our next meeting but until we have a program, please watch your babies! :)

Garden Updates 4-26-13
A few announcements this week:
- Please remember to be safe when working at the garden! Also, return tools to the shed and coil hoses around spouts after using them so they won't be in the other gardener's way. :)
- We'll be having a planting party Sunday, April 28th from 9:30 to noon or so. Please bring your shovels! We may try to have another planting party during the week if we need more planting time. We'll be trying to plant four apple trees, at least two grapes and eight blueberry bushes!
- Bring cardboard whenever you can.

Hello!
We would like to put the call out to see if anyone has a mower/weedwacker we can use to cut the grass that has sprung up around the garden. Also, we are looking for a cordless chain saw to help top the fence posts sometime, too.
Thanks so much and have a good day! :)

Work party this weekend!
Our next work party is this Saturday, March 23rd. We've got some ambitious plans and we'd love to have all the help we can get!
On the agenda this week is building some additional beds and setting fence posts to replace the temporary fence that we've had up.
Does anyone have an auger? digging post holes by hand can be hard work and an auger would help immensely. Please let us know if you or someone you know has one we could borrow! :)
Please email Norm at norm_reiss@comcast.net if you have any leads. We'll start working around 9:30 am and quit in time for lunch.
See you on Saturday!

Garden Updates!
Garden Updates, Work Parties, and New Contact Information
Hello! Exciting things are afoot at the garden! Planting season is upon us and the beds are ready and waiting for your seeds and starts.Membership and Bed Assignments
Great news! Due to overwhelming interest we've already run out of garden beds! Not to worry, though, we'll be adding more soon. For folks that want to garden and just can't wait for a bed to get built for them we have a large open gardening area for overflow. We'll be assigning beds to garden members as soon as we receive your $15 annual membership fee. The fee allows the garden to pay for upgrades and ongoing maintenance (hoses, extra soil, etc). $5 of the fee is refundable if you take the time to clean up the bed at the end of the year. ;)
We'd like to ask those of you who are already on the list for beds to make arrangements to pay the fee before you start planting.
Work Parties
So much to do! We've scheduled work parties at the garden for the next 3 Saturdays. That's the 16th, 23rd, and 30th of March. We'll be starting at 9:30am and we'll plan on finishing by lunchtime. Bring your work gloves and shoves and pitch in!
We've got lots of projects and upgrades we're working on: fence relocation, installing a water system, and the building of more beds (yay!) just to name a few. :)
Crop Donations
We're strongly encouraging gardeners to donate at least 10% of their crops this year to the Marion Polk Food Share as a way of giving back to the community and to thank them for all the hard work they've put into making this garden possible.
